Year 6 - Planning Ect

Hi all, I hope you and the children have had an amazing summer; the sun certainly kept shining for us all. I would like to welcome all the children to the final year of the primary journey.

We start this journey with the Bikeablity sessions. Please make sure you have signed your child up for this, if it is of interest to you, as it begins within the first few days back at school - this can be completed through the usual channels. They must have a cycle in working order to take part in this.

We are excited to be starting the year with a geography themed big question...What would be the golden card in a game of European Top Trumps?

This unit aims to deepen the children's understanding of their own continent - Europe - yet will cross over in to other areas of the world. We will look at physical and human features of the countries of Europe. Please see the planning on our web page. There is also a file that answers the 'Key knowledge' questions.

During this term, we will be starting our PHSE - DART unit that will be presented by an external provider - this will inform your child of the issues relating to drugs, drink, smoking and vaping, bullying and how to prevent themselves from becoming subject to these dangers. Please see the introductory letter on the year 6 page.

This term's knowledge organiser and key vocabulary is also available to peruse at your leisure.

This term's pre-learning task is to produce a fact-file on a European country of your child's choice. This can be brought in over the next few weeks and will earn your child merit points as a result.

Please note that the medium term plan is subject to change over the next few weeks to adjust for updated information.

I really hope your child has a relaxing last few days of their break and that they are refreshed and eager to learn when they return on Monday morning.

Kind regards Mr. Moss and Mrs. Hilton.
