Giraffes - Spring 12 January 2026 (by Isabel Thompson (ithompson)) |
Good morning all,
I hope you are all having a lovely break, and have enjoyed Christmas. Before we know it, we will back at school on Monday, and I wanted to share some information with you about the upcoming Spring term. Our big question will be 'Was everything in the stone age made of stone?' and is driven by history.
Years 3 and 4 have been offered the chance to perform in a joint concert at David Nieper Secondary school, on Tuesday 3rd March at 5:30pm - this will be an opportunity for the children to perform in front of their adults, joined by other primary schools in the trust. More information will follow about this event.
Upcoming dates:
- Friday 9th January is an INSET day, and so children will not be in school.
- Wednesday 11th February we will be having a class trip to Creswell Crags, to learn more about our big question linked to the Stone age.
Homework
Our pre-learning task for this Big Question is to research a Stone Age animal and present this information in a creative and informative way. You could design a poster, a PowerPoint or even have a go at creating a 3D model of your animal.
Please could you bring your creations in by Friday 17th January. I look forward to seeing them!
We will be having a reading treat again at the end of this half term - the more your child reads at home and then completes the reading quizzes in school time, once they have finished their book, the more of the treat they will have. If you have any questions about this, please contact me.
All resources, including knowledge organisers and details of our learning this half term, can be found on the link. A physical copy of the knowledge organiser will also be sent home.
Enjoy the rest of the break,
Miss Thompson and Mrs Naylor
