First week and Homework!

11 September 2026 (by Kieron Bath (k.bath))

Hi Giraffes,

I first of all want to say just how amazingly well the children have settled in to Year 3. There has been lots of change to get used to but they have all been fantastic, I'm so proud of every single of them! :)

Reading

Nearly all children have now completed the reading assessment which determines what book band your child will be reading at. The children should be taking this reading book home every day and bringing it into school every day. Please encourage when possible for your child to read at home as we will be having a reading treat (Games afternoon) for the children who have completed quizzes once they have finished a book with the hope that they reach 100%!

Also, when your child has read, please can you sign in the reading records as children are also rewarded if they have 5 signatures every week in their reading records. Children reading on their own is absolutely fine for a signature but if you do ever have time to listen to your child read then this would be even better!  :)

TTRS

In your child's reading records we have also wrote down 3 different x tables that we would like your child to focus on during this half term on TTRS. Again, if children have been practicing then they will receive rewards for this!

Knowledge Organiser and Spellings

Lastly, your child will be coming home with two sheets, one is a Knowledge Organiser for our big question about the UK and England and the other is a spellings list for your child to practice at home throughout the year whenever possible! :)

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask and I hope you all have a great weekend!

Thanks,

Mr Bath
